First Two Days of Class
July 2 was orientation for me; took an examination to determine which level I was at and was put in a very basic level. Was very disappointed and concerned so I talked with the director and was`placed in a different class on Tuesday. Much better. Am working very hard and now feel very challenged. A group of us took a bus to Heredia after school Monday. Open air markets, dirty streets, lots of people everywhere. I´m mad at myself for not realizing I needed a cable for my camera because I passed a camera store in Heredia. Will have to try and get there again on Saturday. We take a break at 10 a.m. every morning and get juice, coffee, fruit and some kind of pastel (pastry) or sandwich, so I don´t eat lunch. For breakfast I eat fruit, drink coffee, and usually bread and dinner is a taste sensation every night. I am supposed to have 10 hours of one-on-one lessons a week but they have so many students that it is now 4 on 1. Oh well, my morning class has only 2 and we are learning quite a lot. The other three students in my afternoon class are two young Bahamian girls who are smart as a whip and an American woman in her high 20s who thinks she speaks Spanish well but doesn´t. I was with the same American woman in the morning class yesterday and she holds everything up constantly so it is a relief to get away from her in the morning anyway. I have a lot of studying to do now where I didn´t in the basic class so I'm enjoying myself a lot. Homework (tarea) involves lots of writing.
